New media technologies is a growing business and nothing impresses me the most than to use images of three Leading Actors in the Technology arena… in illustrating how to create an efficient workspace… equipments and gadgets other bloggers are using to make a living or support a livelihood… A workspace set-up to blog monetize.
We All agree that Al Gore invented the internet; Bill Gates has become successful in the era of the internet boom and revolution… Steve Ballmer has Overseen great growth at Microsoft during that time.
With great respect… all three distinguished fellows; close or near baby boomer’s age bracket and the gadgets and equipments don’t seem to give away the age. I am willing to bet that Younger Entrepreneur have a wider array of toys, gadgets and technologies they have grown to embrace as technology changes every 6months or less.
Larry Page maybe has numerous plasma screens, several gadgets docking stations… Less paper and more electronic and soft copies Technologies to avoid a workspace predicament in Al Gores Front yard…

Larry page and Sergey Brin
I recommend for Al to put a small Ad on www.DoMyStuff.com for competitive bids to fix the mess before any further ratifications of the
For you the average guy/lady or “Bryan” from the “Family Guy”, an upcoming independent publisher… accept that some of the toys will be fantasy’s… until you start making money from blogging, to invest in some real cool and expensive gadgets to “Up Your Game”… But investing in your workspace is like changing oil… doing tune up… adding some “Bondo” on the rust from the salt on snow months… to maintain your car to keep getting from point A to B.

Google Airlines-”In flight “movie ads” targeting, and relevant to your destination”
Below are some Tips and Pointers from the three striking Images in circulations on various blogs.

[Al Gore In his Office - Getting Things Done ?]

A workspace is your little domain within a bigger domain. In this Environment you tap you best creativity, experience the new media technologies and find solutions the bigger problems in your Agenda.
If you work out of an office with plenty of room…Get more shelves on the walls… Get more stacked trays… Bins… Drawers on wheels, to keep your working space… neat and clean; to allow you to work in your workspace.
Something that stands out on Al Gores workspace despite all the work and research papers on his workspace is that He has an ergonomic chair which is a “MUST” investment.
Most major corporations invest in ergonomic chairs and even hiring specialists to measure the desk to fit your height and posture… Berkley Risk Administrators is one of those companies I can attest to that spends more than $800 on a good ergonomic chair and custom fitting Desks for its Employees… Why? Because in the long run it reduces the cost of health care benefits… and from an Operations Department stand point a better work projections… less work related injuries; Enough bandwidth to stay productive.
Stop and think For a moment… think about yourself as an Independent publisher, blogger or freelancer may with no health benefits, No assistants and of course no one to delegate your functions and duties to. Don’t just buy a chair because it says ergonomic correct… Nah! Spend time in shopping around and by actively participating in asking the sales rep questions to find out if they can do the ergonomic consulting for free… to figure you weight and height and posture to recommend and custom design a custom chair to fit your need and personality.

[Bill Gates Office - couple of Tablet PCs, very organized]
Bill Gates, if I am not mistaken coined the Job Description “Chief Software Architect”. To do his creative software architecture Game Planning… He needs space and a lot desk space… Either Bill is partially Eco-friendly and has gone paperless by using the nice gadget ‘Tha Tablet Pc”… A Not-Out in the stores Laptop with the screen tilting away from your view… the Zune and of course 3 or 4 LCD Flat 30″ Screens with a Mac1 wireless broadband connection.
As an Independent publisher invest on a good screen to help view multiple screens and multiple browser or applications with ease. But investing in a couple is not a bad idea, since you need to perform various functions and having that ability is a nice thing. I am myself contemplating using a good projection screen with a good resolution to extend my monitor on my Laptop using the Dual monitor feature in windows xp pro.

[Steve Ballmer working in his Office at Microsoft]

Steve’s Workspace is adequate for a person logging the most corporate flying miles negotiating and development global business initiatives for Microsoft… But his workspace… for example can use more stacked trays for his loose papers on the desk.
The most striking thing in his workspace is the lighting from the huge window to his left and in front… As an independent publisher or blogger you need adequate lighting to avoid eye damage. The more sun you can let through the more money you can make… It works…
Having participated and served in the safety committee in my previous job, I can recommend having your desk away from the wall (for the weather emergencies for example) and/or … To create enough space to walk around and stare out of your window to interact with the surrounding environment… landscape… horizon… whatever it is that allows you’re a serene feeling while brainstorming… Blogging ideas or the next new media technology.

It is a great benefit to humanity to have all these gadgets and equipments… to enable you succeed in the blogging world or to monetize online… But like anything start out buying the small necessary Add-on like a Headset microphone from RadioShark for $9.99 and work your way to bigger, better equipment and gadgets… subscribe to the many resources for newer technologies… With time you can have all you need.

Basic Workstation.
I don’t have all the gadgets and equipments I have read about or seen friends with or even tested at a store… but I know that I have a workspace that allows me to keep learning and trying new media technologies to be “Like Bill’… ‘Be Like Mike
Some like this……

At least, working independently gives me the freedom to do the things I like to do… to surf the net without worrying the IT guys with Internet browsing mileage Stats to analyze. “Yeah”… I know someone that once told me he had surfed to the end of the net in one day before the end of an 8hr shift and didn’t know what to do next to kill time????… At work??? “Are you kidding”… Use that time wisely and don’t be afraid to challenge the norms to one day be your own BOSS.

Truth is, you can be your own boss
